The Malaysian Sizing Survey, or MYSIZE, is a national sizing survey to obtain body surface measurements(size &shape) of Malaysians. Using the latest photogrammetry technology (based on safe white light - no laser or radiation), volunteers will be scanned using the NX-16 3D Body Scanner and data generated will be whole body measurements, where a 3D model consisting of cloud points will be shown on the computer screen. This survey is modelled after surveys done in the UK, US and Thailand (Size UK, Size USA, and Size Thailand respectively) and is a flagship project under the Centre of Research for Computational Sciences and Informatics in Biology, Bioindustry, Environment, Agriculture and Healthcare (CRYSTAL), University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
The research will be conducted at varoius region which includes the north (Perlis, Kedah, Penang), central (Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Selangor), east coast (Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang), south (Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Johor) and east Malaysia (Sabah,Sarawak).
The project will be launched during the Merdeka Celebration Month(2009) and will be travelling all over the country beginning August until December 2009. Meanwhile the collected data will be thoroughly and scientifically examined, processed, compiled and analyzed for the next few months afterwards which will then be published and become a reference for companies interested in the data and it will also become part of the standardizing reference for the development of Malaysian Standards under the Department of Standards Malaysia (STANDARDS MALAYSIA).
